History of the area

The hotel is located near the city of Nice and the Saleya walkway, known for its traditional market and antiquary. Until the early eighteenth century, the vast majority of the population was concentrated in what is now called Old Nice. At the time, the city of Nice was not a French city and the conflicts that opposed to Louis XIV led to the destruction of ramparts and the citadel of Nice.

The hotel is located precisely on the “quai Robea-Capèu” (Robea Capèu quay) at the end of the “promenade des Anglais”-(English walkway), in line with the “quai des Etats-Unis” (United States quay). It goes around the castle hill and connects the waterfront and the harbor/harbour area.

Robea-Capèu means “Who steals the hat’ 'in Nissart, a language of the Nice City. As its name says, this area is particularly exposed to the wind. Until 2002, few tourists and walkers go there for that very reason. Since then, numerous civil engineering projects have transformed this piece of the quay into one of the most frequented of the region, where visitors can enjoy a unique view on the “Baie des Anges”. This original architecture allows everyone to enjoy the beauty of this landscape while being sheltered from the wind and spray. However, the authenticity and wild rocks was preserved.

Castel beach can be found at the end of the magnificent “Promenade des Anglais” (English walkway) and offers an exceptional view on the “Baie des Anges” (Angels Bay) and the “Promenade des Anglais”, which is lined with palm trees.
